March 14, 2014 Newsletter

Dear Friends & Fans,

Spring is in the air!  For us that means the Spring Showcase of Homes is around the corner.  We are very excited to present our 2014 Spring Showcase Home.  It is the only earthen home in the Showcase of Homes.  It is a home with 18″ rammed earth walls that will wrap itself around you.  The features of this home include beautiful carved lintels and corbels, an adobe kiva fireplace, Kowalski custom cabinets, a totally accessible design, venetian plastered fireplace and vent hood, photovoltaic solar panels, an exposed adobe archway, vigas with cedar ceiling, Talavera tile, Knotty maple wood flooring, and wood casement windows.  The open floor plan lives large, the Universal design makes living in the home easy for all.  Every aspect of the home is functional as well as aesthetically pleasing to the senses. It is a Uniquely New Mexican home.

The Art Of Giving

As a special addition to the Showcase of Homes we will be the presenting the work of The Border Artists.    Save the Date for the Opening Night Special Event on Friday, April 25th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. We are hosting The Border Artists in this charitable event for The Mesilla Valley Community of Hope, specifically Camp Hope. The artwork will be available for sale with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to Camp Hope. The Border Artists are some of the Mesilla Valley’s best artists www.theborderartists.org.

Over the last 9 months, Border Artist and Photographer, David Shaw has been photographing the residents of Camp Hope as they transition from living in a tent to moving into their own place.  The photographs tell a story that will touch you, move you, speak to you. We will present this body of work in our “Garage Gallery”.

We invite you to join us for refreshments, music, art and good company.  The address of the home is 4396 Isleta Ct. It is located in The Pueblos off Sonoma Ranch Road, at the far east end of Northrise.

On a community note, have you noticed the work being done on the Armijo House?  Located on the corner of Lohman and Main St., the Armijo House will be home to the Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce when the renovation is complete.  The home is built of adobe.  The walls are three feet thick.  You can view pictures of the work in progress at www.theearthbuildersguild.org.

As always, I enjoy hearing from you.  Hope to see you on April 25th.
Pat Bellestri-Martinez
